Do you have a passion for Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori? Central Otago REAP is looking for kaitiaki to lead beginner-level courses across Central Otago, including Wānaka, Cromwell, Alexandra, and Māniatoto.
About the Role
We are seeking kaitiaki to support adults in their journey with Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori.
This role is about creating welcoming, engaging, and practical learning experiences that build confidence and connection to language, culture, and traditions in our local communities.
Tutors will run courses to meet the identified needs in our communities, covering:
- Pronunciation
- Mihimihi, karakia, and waiata
- Local tikanga, Māori place names, history and local Kai Tahu narratives
We welcome applications from those who can teach in one or multiple locations.
What We’re Looking For
- A confident speaker of Te Reo Māori with strong knowledge of Tikanga Māori
- Experience teaching, tutoring, or facilitating learning in a community setting
- Comfortable leading karakia, waiata, and sharing tikanga Māori
- Understanding of Central Otago’s Māori place names, history, and Kai Tahu narratives.
- Ability to create an inclusive, welcoming learning space for all learners
